Is it rude to ask a trans person how they knew they were trans? I did this recently to a girl on tiktok live and she got upset saying it’s a weird question. I did not mean to offend I’m just looking for other people’s experience to compare to my own.

Some people might be offended and others won’t, it’s possible she thought you were trying to troll her, it’s a common experience unfortunately

It’s not a rude question imo, but it depends on how it was asked Tho personally that’s a really vulnerable question for me, so I’d only be comfortable answering with friends

It’s not necessarily rude, but it’s a very personal question. I think there’s also a difference between asking a stranger on TikTok a personal question, and asking someone you know.

Better to be on the side of caution

To some it might be personal, I guess she wants that to be more private or thought you were trying to be rude. Not fun that your genuine curiosity was met with offense. I knew I was genderqueer because I noticed feeling super uncomfortable looking at myself wanting to be more ‘boyish’. It’s been discovering what I’m comfy with because I’ve always been uncomfy. Short hair was great, changing clothes to more androgynous helped, every step has been “oh hey that’s nice!”

It also gives ppl with bad intentions the opportunity to be weird by asking a seemingly innocuous question

There was never an AHA moment, more slow burn questions I’d asked myself.
