i’m not super needlephobic besides having to look away when i get blood drawn but i will say that subq shots are the easiest out of all needles i’ve experienced: the tissue isn’t too sensitive, the needle is small, and it goes super quick. i also second getting someone else to help you with them 🙂‍↕️

3 things: 1, go slow if you have to, rushing can cause you to make mistakes 2, ice the area you are injecting, it helps to numb the area 3, make sure you are rotating your injection spots enough so you don’t develop too much scar tissue

There’s nothing wrong with asking for help with injections, I know guys who have been on injections for years and still don’t do their own shots. I got desensitized to needles at a very young age, but even I have days where it feels like I can’t do my injections

Yeah, I was raised by diabetics so I learned a lot about subq injections even before going on T. As for scar tissue, when you are constantly injecting in the same spots over and over again, it will eventually start to form, but it takes a while and switching where you inject helps in reducing it. I’m about 2 years on injections and scar tissue has only really become an issue for me recently

Yeah both of my parents (and most of my grandparents) are/were diabetics, and I had to help my grandma with her insulin sometimes, and I help my dad with his ozempic sometimes. It’s one of the reasons I got so desensitized to needles. I’m the type to look at my arm while my blood is being drawn

You can also ask your provider about intramuscular shots for T. You don’t have to do them as often, but they can be riskier/more painful. Again, ask your provider if that is an option for you, I’m not a doctor, just a freak who likes to Google

i got it around my belly button where i was doing injections, even though i rotated around that area. i'm on my thighs now, and when i had my friend helping me do my shots i had him do them in my arm to use another spot
