From my understanding your hairs are gonna be a bit scorched after laser, and therefore a bit more visible. After a few days things chill out. Partially what you’re seeing is your scorched hairs under your skin, hence why you can’t get a close shave. It just takes a few days for your body to get those hairs out. Be sure to wash your skin extra good, because with those scorched hairs all in there, gunk and oils build up faster

my skin is normally very clear and i can usually get the stubble down to be much less noticeable than it is here

so these dark strikes are the dead hairs and those are the spots where it actually worked?

my laser did not look like this at all 😭 they gave me a cream to help with irritation, did yours do that?

if you do decide that laser is not a good choice for you, electrolysis would likely cause much less of that reaction (although it tends to be more expensive so if you can get some sort of grant or practicing school or employee discount go for that)

Sorry, idk. I think it varies person to person + depends on hair color. Something that can slightly help is to get some really warm water on your jaw, or maybe a warm washcloth. That heat will open up your pores and allow your body to push out those scorched hairs a little bit easier

If you really need to get out of your house for an errand or something, just put on a mask. It’ll cover up most of your jaw

I’ll probably just boymode if needed

Yeah good luck! The good part about laser (again, from what I understand) is that you won’t even need to shave too much of that hair because the dead hairs just kinda fall out. So just give it a bit of time and let your skin do its thing

Yass true! I was just paranoid that this was an allergic reaction or smth that meant the laser wasn’t working

Electrolysis provides genuine permanence and can often be easier on the skin as a whole as it only affects the individual follicles themselves. You have a LOT of swelling and it seems a lot of what was burnt is still in the follicles. Exfoliate (gently) and use aloe vera if you can. If not, ice it repeatedly throughout the day. It shouldn’t look like that four days after… they screwed up with their settings and should have done smaller areas with lower intensity to learn how your skin reacts.
