make sure they take your weight if you're even slightly fat. my surgeon in the South either didn't have a BMI limit or had an expanded one and it was such a relief that i didn't have to lose weight before getting such a life changing surgery

I started the process with my surgeon in mid September and my surgery is scheduled in February

kenneth wolfe in the detroit area has a cult following lol, he’s a plastic surgeon that operates under informed consent and doesnt accept insurance/requires self pay. iirc its like 7-10k. not sure the exact timeline but i think he gets people in in like 3-6 months.

Yes with insurance I have through my employer. Out of pocket costs without insurance are from 14-17k. The insurance is actually what delayed the process as I was going to have surgery before the end of this year

with that you should be good for anybody. i searched for "[local hospital system] [my city] gender affirming double mastectomy" and found my dr that way, but she was listed as only doing cosmetic breast surgery so i had to call the office to confirm she actually did top surgery. i lost 2.5 lbs just from my chest

we also have plenty of non-insurance surgeons here. charlotte and asheville have them, although idk abt waits
