there's been a long history of trans women forced into sex work. hrt and surgeries are expensive, and for a lot of ppl it's kind of the only option. many choose to go that route, yes, but for a lot, it's just a safer easier way of sex work.

As ellie said! A lot of us struggle with employment because of hiring discrimination/work place harassment, and it’s often a way for us to engage in sex work and adjacent income avenues a little more safely than hitting the streets. Though many are also in the physical spaces, too, to try and get by.
