Progesterone is the hormone that’s used in BC. It essentially tricks your body into thinking it’s already pregnant, but it’s not estrogen, so it’s hopefully less dysphoria inducing for all the guys who have gestation equipment

i use nuvaring which has estrogen in part to treat vaginal atrophy, in part for birth control, and in part for stopping my periods since progesterone-only pills didn't do that for me. it's free under the ACA with my insurance, whereas a vaginal cream would not be. i have not noticed any feminizing effects, but ymmv
