Does anyone have any tips on safety for DIY estrogen? I’ve ordered my first vial of estradiol but idk if there’s injection areas that I should avoid or anything like that

honestly injections arent that scary at all, make sure to pinch kinda around where youre gonna inject, put the needle in, stop pinching, n then push the plunger where u inject doesnt matter too much between stomach and thighs, i like stomach bc it hurts less (0.5/10 instead of 1/10) but my gf does it in her thighs. just personal preference sometimes itll bleed but dont worry abt it, it just happens sometimes. u prolly nicked a capillary or smth its no big deal congrats on starting injections

you can look up how to inject, i just alternate between my right and left thighs. intramuscular or subcutaneous is fine, i use an 18 gauge needle to draw from the vial and 28 gauge (i think) to inject

Alternate thighs and stomach and move between spots on them to reduce development of scar tissue. If you feel resistance when you inject, stop- don’t force it, pull it out, change needle tip, and try a different spot. It’s not as scary as it sounds. If you’re freaked about the pain, massage and then ice the area before you wipe it with a sterile alcohol pad. There are many injection guides online as well— just don’t go with any AI nonsense ones.

folxhealth.com/library/hormone-self-injection-guide here's a guide from an online HRT provider. i like to get 1 mL syringes rather than 3 mL since i think it makes my dose easier

There is actually a video on YouTube that shows you how to inject! Just look up “hormone injection Iowa hospital” (that’s who made the video) and it’s shown in detail how to do it

my biggest tip though is to rotate sites. when i had my best friend do my shots, i asked him to do them in my upper arms, and it's hard to reach on my own. it helped space out the times i injected into my stomach, where i did almost all my shots until i started getting scar tissue buildup there and i rotated to my thighs and arms. shots are awesome though they worked great for me since they were so quick and easy and once a weekly. congrats on getting on e! +guide to safe needle recapping
