Proposal: replace mtf and ftm with ffm (female from male and male from female) which still allows us to have conversations about our bodies without putting our asab in front of our gender (source: @tiffandevecomics on instagram)
#poll
I can see it
I still think it falls short
I disagree with any asab discussion

it’d be better but I’d still just say trans guy/girl since I don’t want to mention asab at all lol

this makes me sound like a gooner but ffm/mff makes me think of threesomes…

Unfortunately the mtf/ftm language is so commonplace elsewhere that this will most likely just confuse new users. Besides, replacing language because it’s somewhat flawed is really hard to do in a way that will catch on at a large scale

Honestly unless I’m having specific medical discussions, all that matters is that I’m non-binary. What I was labeled as a baby is completely irrelevant. So for me, asab talk is usually pointless (not always, I understand that it occasionally has its place)

I avoid mentioning sex at all. Unless you are my doctor or my booty call, you don’t need to know what’s in my pants OR “which way” I am. I am Man, plain and simple.

same thing for mtnb/ftnb vs trans masc NB/trans fem NB. I’d rather just say the longer version

Tbh I agree, and now that I’m 9 months into being on HRT and I can take my womanhood for granted my sex really hasn’t been part of the discussion for a while now so I have no stake in asab language anymore. Acronyms feel more for twitter than real life talking

yeah I just say I’m non-binary and binary trans people probs just say they’re a (trans) guy or girl. the attempt for a better acronym makes sense but I personally don’t see the need for one at all

Agreed. Though I do think I’m going to start replacing it in the very rare occasions I would otherwise use mtf or ftm… which is like never. But still

but also i think the poll is missing an option for the people who think the currently common mtf/ftm acronyms are fine. not sure who those people are but they definitely exist
