Ya 👍 Listened to born to die/electra heart when my sister would pick me up from school. (she’s better now dw) Very “teenage girl” music, the way they spoke about womanhood/girlhood just felt like something painful. Specifically the song referenced in the meme made me think “if being a woman is so awful with only few moments of fleeting joy, why not see what else is out there.” Kinda introduced me to the idea of something out there besides being cis, even without a name

huh, on some level I get that. I just feel like, with this particular image, are they not explicitly saying that men’s behavior is the reason why being a woman is such a fraught experience? not that there’s anything wrong with either of them expressing that ofc, or anything innately wrong with being a man. just feels counterintuitive to me ig because this kind of thing was part of why I felt for so long like “something must be wrong with me in an evil way if I identify with my own oppressor”

which, again, I don’t mean that in a “blaming” sense—I’ve never felt like “how dare these women convince me that men are bad!!!!” or anything remotely like that, their pain is of course not About me. it was just difficult for me to piece together how imagery like this could lead anyone to discovering their own maleness. but I’m rambling at this point, so anyway, thanks for being down to elaborate

Who said I had to or wanted to be one of “those guys”? The way womanhood is expressed in this image just really struck me with a kind of “huh, I don’t get anything about this and I don’t know why anyone would want to.”

no one, it’s just that the only reference to maleness in this image is to the guys causing them pain & despair, and any idea of “womanhood is miserable” here is directly attributable to how those men treat them

quite likely just thee ‘tism on my end, can’t always wrap my head around where other people are coming from. and I’m not always great at articulating that without coming across as unintentionally argumentative

No you for sure did come across that way but it also is just my pre-transition self latching onto anything
