Sometimes it helps to think of it like drag, it helps me feel in control and reminds me it’s all performative — and if it’s a performance that means it’s a skill, and you can do well at it without affecting who you are in reality.

I’m not doing it anymore but what made it bearable for me was coming out to some close friends so that when we were alone I could get gendered and named correctly and just be generally open about it. I came out pretty quickly after I did that ngl but it did help loads to make me feel less restricted for the time that I did it.
