Why the fuck does my local trans community have such a severe problem of othering transmasc and trans guys? I swear they forget we are still oppressed by misogyny and they look down on us for wanting to partake in feminist action??? It’s mind boggling

“But you’re a guy taking up space in feminism” because the government is trying to regulate my body too actually!! I’m not on the side of the oppressors, and also you literally won’t stop misgendering me because my identity aligns slightly more with masculinity than nothing and it’s pissing me off. Quit calling me a man, but especially quit othering fellow queer folks!!!

Any kind of othering is always disgusting to me in those communities. It’s always just furthering patriarchal oppression to say that wanting the world to be better is only allowed for some people. I have def been in similar boats 😭😭😭(boymoder that decided to study up on way too much feminist lit to figure out how to be a woman)

Nah, fr. My friends used to try to make the joke that I’m on the side of the oppressors and I shut that shit down real fast with a Ted talk ass response because that shit was not funny and only perpetuated the problem.

This is why liberal feminism annoys me so much cause the oppressors aren't the men it's the ruling class + anyone who tries to perpetuate it. It does mostly affect women and men are usually the ones who perpetuate it but 1. The effects are not exclusive to women and 2. Women are not immune from perpetuating it. Trad wives for example are HANDS DOWN perpetuating misogyny and sexism. And some random trans person who deals with the issues of bodily autonomy is not the oppressor just cause he's masc

Precisely!! And truly there’s the argument to be made that misandry and feminism cannot go hand in hand too because oftentimes it’s people who say they’re feminist and hold misandrist beliefs that I don’t think they realize the purpose of feminism is to make equal, not remain divided. I know misandry doesn’t effect most people’s daily lives, but at the end of the day, anyone can be harmful and evil, and it’s a patriarchal societal standard we need to fight, not each other

But like I can also say I still err on the side of caution around men because they tend to uphold the standard. That is usually cis men, however.

Exactly!!! People look at me funny when I tell them smth like misandry also perpetuates patriarchal oppression like I have 3 heads. You can hate on men, hell I hate on them, but at the end of the day, othering only hurts us all. When you’re a feminist and you go from dealing with misogyny your whole life to “shut up evil man” (exaggerated example), it really fucks with you. I’m not gonna abandon my morals but since when did I dictate gender roles? I want bodily autonomy for everyone
