I have seen AGAB used to either misgender nonbinary people or be transmisogynistic towards trans woman 98% of the time and I’m not exaggerating Constantly I hear people say “oh but in a medical setting” no. There is nothing AGAB communicates that “transmasc” or “transfem” doesn’t communicate
i'd like it if it weren't used to suggest what kind of body/body parts someone has. "afab bodies" doesn't mean anything bc that could mean anything. if someone is intersex and was afab but experienced testosterone puberty, they'll look a whole lot different probably than a perisex cis woman. if you're trying to say people who can get pregnant, say that. if you're trying to say people who society perceives as women, say that. etc etc
AGAB is pretty much only useful in talking about how outdated and harmful it’s actually become. Trans___ conveys a lot more information, and anything medical can be elaborated upon when needed because everyone’s body is different and some people may have undergone (forcibly or electively) surgeries to change aspects of their body that AGAB would never encapsulate.
