“Has no place in our community… unless we’re the ones pushing it and you can participate in any harassment we do.” It absolutely is a sport for all. And needs to remain as such, without some shitty board pretending a dozen athletes are a problem for simply existing.

Also like. It’s fucking archery??? Why do we even have separate gendered categories at all??? I mean if it’s a sprinting event it kinda makes sense but archery??😭 I’m not in the sport so maybe this is ignorant but I see literally no reason why it shouldn’t just be one big event for everyone.

I’m a casual archer. There’s really nothing behind it that could even lend credibility to the bullshit. It’s literally just to push discrimination. That’s all it’s ever been about. HRT removes any “advantages”. Rules in sports have been in place for decades dictating a requirement for a span of HRT before competing professionally. Guess who is somehow “dominating sports” while never coming out on top? Yuuup.

again, misogyny. either people thought women were weaker so they separated, or women were subjected to extreme harassment (resulting from misogyny) in the sport and thus made their own space

That's how a bunch of sports became segregated. The other main way was when men decided women were too weak to participate with "strong men" 🙄 & disallowed women from playing until it was "softened" for women (baseball/softball). The third way is whatever tf is wrong with chess

it’s infuriating that fencing is getting hit by this bs too, i have a few fencing friends at my uni who also happen to be queer and they’re really fucking pissed. hope you’re doing good since that policy was released. i’ve been on a warpath trying to get this open letter out, lmk if you want me to speak up for yall too

Seeing as we’re a low level club sport at my school, and I’m the VP of the club I don’t think we’re in any danger, but it’s infuriating that sports bodies are doing this for seemingly no reason

yeah I honestly wish I had something to leverage against usa archery other than legal action because in the letter i’m making a list of demands and as it stands all I can really do at the moment is call upon an honor system
