i’m transmasc nonbinary and there are certain aspects of hrt that i would really want but others that i really don’t (and a few i’m neutral or unsure towards). does anyone have experience with low-dose t that they’d be willing to share?

to provide another option: my tmasc friend wanted just the voice change and has gone to consults for T injections that would (I think?) only affect his voice, though idk how available that is in your region/in general

It depends on what you don’t want.

r/ftm has ppl who'll share that. there's some stuff you really don't get a say in whether or not it happens (bottom growth, fat distribution), some stuff you do (ish, sometimes) (balding, atrophy), and stuff, including the prior two categories, that you can change the rate at which they happen. it's taking an educated leap of faith.

My voice hasn’t changed much, though it doesn’t take as much effort to talk deeper. Bottom growth was definitely a thing, and it’s not that scary as I thought it might be. Slightly more hair than usual, but most other people haven’t noticed that. But each body responds differently to hormones, so your experience could be different. Definitely talk to your doctor about what you’re wanting.

could you ask him how they do that? all testosterone application methods im aware of other than the t cream that ppl on estrogen can use to treat penile atrophy are systemic, and the t cream wouldn't be able to be applied inside the throat.

couldn't he just voice train if he wants to avoid the other effects?

I haven’t really gotten a specific answer from him since I don’t think he knows either (outside of “they inject it in my neck” lol), but I looked around online & it’s definitely a thing. it seems relatively new though, so idk how available it is in areas other than mine/my friend’s

I found a case study that has more specific info on the procedure for us trans folks https://breakthroughsforphysicians.nm.org/ent-research-article-vocal-fold-t-injections-voice-masculinization

it’s non-binary (it/he) and wants his voice to be deeper ONLY. it doesn’t want to sound like a guy, it just wants a lower voice. he tried voice training but that didn’t really help
