My fucking laptop keeps deadnaming me even though I changed the name on it. Anyone who knows how to fix it would be greatly appreciated 🙏

If it's a Mac you are unfortunately fucked (idk abt pcs). You can't change the name of the admin without potentially breaking the os and losing your data. You can maybe back everything up onto a separate hard drive & then do the change & reupload everything (& make apple fix the OS if it breaks - if you can afford that...). Or you can make a second admin account on the computer & give it your name

As 1 said, it depends on the OS (and also, what exactly is deadnaming you. It’s a pain in the fucking ass to change every single account you look at on your computer. Multiple apps often have separate accs you need to change. And if you have gmail...)

It’s HP. I’m not sure how to find the name but I think it’s HP ZBook Firefly 14 inch G10 Mobile Workstation PC.

Yeah it’s HP and I changed the name and email address of my outlook account. It’s still the same account just under a different name now, and when it’s unlocked it says my name but when I’m signing in it says my deadname and idk how that happens

Windows or Linux OS? If you’re running windows, then you just have to change your name through your microsoft account. There’s some steps here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/how-to-change-your-user-account-name-358fadfe-1bf5-cb0a-95a4-9adf9f8a6358

If you’ve been changing it locally in settings and it keeps reverting back, this is probably the reason (it pulls your Microsoft account into online and updates), so lmk if changing your Microsoft account info changes anything. If you can’t change it bc it’s a school or work account where you don’t have admin privileges, you might have to file a ticket w/ IT but it should be pretty easy / fast.
