once I got really comfortable with my new name and I was sure about it. plus I wanted to piss off my parents

I’d been going by my new name for about 2 years before I changed it legally. It felt natural and like it fit who I was as a person. What motivated me to do it when I did is that I was about to graduate college and wanted my new name on my diploma, so that gave me a bit of a deadline.

it was painful to be hearing my chosen name everywhere and then go to the pharmacy and be like. oh. yeah. :(
