How do I deal with dysphoria until I can start HRT? My family are transphobic and I live in a red state and in my situation it seems unlikely I’ll be able to start soon. I just want the dysphoric dread to go away but I know it will return until treated.

find your people! it helps so much to have a group of friends who support you and your transition

Focus on the little things The big thing that worked for me was body hair stuff if ure ftm just don’t shave and if ure mtf shave a lot Literally just shaving my legs daily prob saved my life

Idk how 😭. I have a very supportive group of friends but they live a couple hours away.

people you can hang out with in person is definitely better, but long-distance friends are better than nothing. maybe get involved in an activity that queer people often do? the way i immediately hit it off with the theatre kids at my university is crazy

Unfortunately I’m doing grad school online but I’ve been considering going to a support group.

I’m away from home but I found out my new roommate is a conservative dude (I’m mtf) and I’m reliant on my family for money while I’m in school.

I’m sorry, that sounds like a rough situation. Unless you’re able to rely on others, my suggestion would be to get out of there ASAP and find a new family.

that sounds like a really good idea! anything where you can interact with others in person is a great way to go

Rn my current plan is to slowly come out to those I trust and seek a therapist specializing in gender identity. From there I’ll just take one step at a time. I haven’t met the roommate yet so I shouldn’t be so harsh to fear him yet but I feel like my worry is valid.

I’ve definitely started doing the shaving. I’m slowly shaving a different part of my body over time. Started with just legs and chest. Now I just gotta get to the arms. I’m just so hairy so it’d be annoying to try and shave my whole body at once.

Honestly it is practice makes perfect I used to be sketchy at best but now just do my entire body daily in like 5 min if I’m in a hurry
