That wouldn’t be productive. They already call me by a nickname of my new name that I don’t particularly love and I thought that would be a more than sufficient compromise but they really won’t stop. This nickname has even spread to other relatives. it’s not a horrible nickname it’s just not my preferred nickname. it may not be productive, but they’re openly disrespecting you. calling you a new name you also don’t like is shitty. also saying “my right to name you” is weird, you’re not her property. she seems very controlling. you shouldn’t have to compromise for your happiness

To her credit, she asked if she can call me one of these two different derivative of the new name and I disliked both but chose the one I disliked less bc it made her happy to have a hand in the selection of the nickname she’d call me
