to my fellow trans men, has anyone else’s insurance denied on getting a new prescription of T after a hysterectomy? currently trying not to panic i know i have other options but they’re more pricey

Not yet; I had my surgery May 30 and picked up T just last week. I use Medicaid. When did insurance deny your script? I’d give them a call because there’s no telling if it’s due to an actual issue or a preemptive stop to gender care. If you’re running low on T, using GoodRx can cut the price to below $40.

they denied it just now when my pcp put it in yesterday or two days ago i can’t remember. my insurance had been covering my gender affirming care ever since i started transitioning and im in a very blue/safe state for trans people, i haven’t heard of them start to threaten or take away healthcare. i have enough for at least a couple more months, im just very paranoid/worried. i reached out to my pcp but i’ll give my insurance a call after the holiday

Call them and ask for the explanation of denial to be written out with the name of the individual who denied it and what their medical qualifications are and have that mailed to you as you’ll be meeting with your doctor to contest it. Keep asking for names, ask for qualifications. Keep hounding them. Be annoying. Be pervasive. They hate it and cave easier.
