make sure to check your state's and college's (if applicable) policies on carrying around pepper spray or other self defense tools. don't get yourself arrested in an attempt to stay safe

Personal safety alarms are a good option especially if your school does have strict weapon policies. Most common brand is Birdie but u can also make it cutesy and DIY it

Unfortunately, I could see law enforcement being a problem rather than protection in the future. Red cards are a good resource to carry around for ICE and for police, here’s this link: https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights. There is helpful information for like the airport and other hard situations for trans people

One good self defense move is to curl your fingers so u can still see your palm, then use your palm and thrust up on the attacker’s nose.
