especially when they refer to specific people with it. I’m non-binary and see it CONSTANTLY. they can use it for themselves if they want, but no, im not an “afab enby,” never call me that. I’m a fucking transmasc.

i think the only time agab ever matters is at the hospital on specific blood tests and procedures that are relevant… otherwise it is def irrelevant

I feel the same way about ftm, mtf, mtnb, and ftnb. It doesn’t matter what I WAS, what I am now is a guy full stop

genuinely love being seen as not quite male or female just because it means people don't know that i was [agab]. am i a man? sure, yeah. am i something beyond that? yeah for sure. am i "a male" or "a female"? no.

they’ll also unnecessarily use AGAB to discuss dichotomies between groups (like trans fem and trans masc NBs). and the people who use AGAB language for NBs always have bioessentialist takes, or they generalize “male/female socialization” to try and separate us as a community. it’s a dogwhistle when used like that so it will always pmo when I see it.

I got put in a “gender neutral” group in high school which was all of the girls, plus me, and NOT including the amab nonbinary person

EXACTLY 😭😭 and maybe the term used to be used well in the trans community, but it’s just become “woke” misgendering. ugh.

like, if you mean someone with a penis, or someone with breasts, or someone with a uterus, just say that. and if you're trying to say someone is boy nonbinary then just don't.

That, and if you’re going to third base with someone, and you don’t have bottom surgery, it’s pretty important to bring it up then too. But aside from sex and specific medical procedures, we shouldn’t be using AGAB, especially not to lump nonbinary ppl in with binary trans ppl or cis ppl of their AGAB for no fucking reason. It’s woke-brand bioessentialism and we’re better than that bullshit

Yeah, that works too… wasn’t sure if you were meaning the specific terms “amab/afab” or the general concept of Telling People That
