I got a new job but my email is the first letter of my legal name and then my last name. I contacted HR to change it and they said they couldn’t. Fml what do I do? I can’t legal change my name yet and when I do I don’t know if it’ll change my email :(

Very likely that no one will ask, but just say that you go by your middle name. Plenty of cis people that do that and have their work emails not match the name people actually know them by

They said they’d do their best but because I work in a school something something safety with legal something but if I change my name legally (which I’m going to as soon as I get back from a trip out of the country) it’ll change

i definitely do this too! my school uses our last name then first and middle initial, and i lucked out in that my chosen name starts with the same letter as my middle name (not intentional), so i would say that if it ever came up, but even if not, it could be easily assumed you go by a nickname or something like that. it stings a little seeing my legal name's initial, but i've never had anyone question me on it, if it makes you feel better
