I’m still on her insurance and I live at home when school is out so she’d find out pretty quick if I didn’t tell her 💔

Well for one thing HIPAA means that the insurance and your doctor legally can’t tell her. But in terms of her seeing you in recovery… you’re just gonna have to be ready for a fight I guess.

Like if you think that she’d disagree with the decision but understand that it was your choice (my mom’s mentality) I think it’s worth just “scheduling” a conversation where the goal is to keep her informed, not to necessarily convince her of anything

I think I’ll probably end up doing something like this. Based on how starting T and getting top surgery went it’ll probably be a tough conversation, but I think she will accept it and move on with time 🫡🫡

Thinking about it more… hear me out. What if you stay at a friend’s for the initial portion of the recovery, like a little “staycation” or something. Good cover story, more time to spend with friends, and you can skip the visible part of recovery! Just a thought
