Like why are there 200 brands for one thing? wtf do any of these brushes even do? Why does every tutorial contradict the other? Being a woman is a fun new world. Makeup is a confused new world that I cannot comprehend

brands: nyx is cheap, good, and honestly pretty ethical.

You really only need three brushes and something to clean them with. A foundation/powder brush (big), a smaller ovalish one for eyeshadow, and something fluffy between the two for like blush or concealer. Anything else you can do with your fingers.

What you really need: Mascara (waterproof) and then honestly everything else is like... up to you (but get primer (or just use moisturizer))

foundation: making skin look more even concealer: covering spots that foundation doesn't cover (like eyebags or acne) contour/highlight: use to create fake shadow/light on face to enhance/change perceived shape of face Blush: add color back to face (mostly cheeks) cause foundation makes it look like there's no blood in your face mascara: lengthen/volumize lashes eyeliner: vibes

eyeshadow: cool eyelid vibes lipstick: self explanatory (may or may not come off when lips touch stuff) lipliner: draw outline of lips to make doing lipstick easier lip gloss: make lips shiny (will absolutely come off when your lips touch things) lip stain: like lip stick but you wipe it off after 10 minutes and it stains your lips fun colors

Eyeliner, I’d recommend a pencil to start. You can smudge it if you make a mistake and it’s a lot more forgiving for beginners. Ik a lot of people recommend waterproof mascara but if you’re inexperienced you’re likely to rip some eyelashes out during removal (I did this, thrice) so I usually get a creamier formula from maybelline (purple or green tube). Eyeshadow, honestly go for a fat eyeshadow stick. It’s one color, you kinda slap it on and smudge it around, and it’s very beginner friendly too

tbh I still don't know how to get waterproof mascara off properly

Literally 😭 I’ve used hot water, micellar, oil, makeup wipes, but I just keep ripping my goddamn eyelashes out so I gave up
