“Male socialization” is a term coined by TERFs that somehow got into trans spaces. We as a society need to stop using it 😭
“But you were born male, you’ll always have that connection and socialization” Buddy I have a connection to manhood the same way a guy whose nuts were hooked up to a car battery had a connection to electricity. That shit was torture

Sorry but no it wasn’t ? Even if trans women weren’t socialized around straight cis men and included, the way that we were taught to be sexist, the roles that we were given, etc were still based upon our assigned gender. That’s what male socialization means. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Nope, it’s just a way to dismiss trans people and be shitty to us. People can be assholes and overcome it but that doesn’t inherently mean they were “male/female socialised”. There’s no one-way to grow up and many, MANY of us are disconnected from that expectation.

I am not asking, I am telling you it originated from TERF spaces.

I agree that the theory of gendered socialization is bullshit, but do you have a source on this claim?

I was socialized as a male because I’m male. Trans women were socialized as males. In some way or another. That’s a fact. And yes transphobes use it to be shitty and that’s not okay but it doesn’t change that fact.

It originated from sociologists

How is it bullshit? I may not have been included with males in certain ways but I did have traditional male roles enforced on me, I was expected to be around my brothers more than my sister, I did have male privilege, etc.

Cool, I’m not male and wasn’t socialised as one even if that’s what would have ordinarily been expected of me. I’m not buying into the transphobic shit just because TERFs want to “leverage” those moot points against us.

I guess the term I should’ve used was hijacked, I am sorry everyone. I still don’t agree with the theory too much- I am trying to say TERFs popularized it.

I hope you know there are transphobic sociologists/doctors/“professionals” who try to justify being transphobic through their studies.

And yk what- hell the sociologists we are referring to are probably TERFs themselves so maybe my point still stands 🧍‍♂️

Explain to me how little to no trans women are socialized as males even though that’s how they’re perceived prior to transition.

Your biology isn’t male ? I’m not referring to gender I’m referring to assigned gender based on sex or perceived sex.

Doesn’t matter how people are perceived. That’s completely subjective. And no, I may have been assigned male but I’m not. My physiology is more female than ever before and wouldn’t respond the same as a cis man.

I’ve seen this argument used multiple times before and it’s simply false. You cannot be a biological woman or man. Trans women are biologically male (usually) and when you take estrogen or have surgeries you become less male and more intersex or female.

You realize these are words we made up to attach to genitalia and reproductive systems right. That doesn’t mean they are literal boxes to put people into. Are you transmed 💀

Oml whatever. No I’m not transphobic. And I’m literally saying nothing transphobic. Sex and gender are two different things that don’t necessarily match. No you are not a biological woman. Because gender is not biological. But identify however you want it doesn’t affect my life.

Sex and gender are neither binary nor immutable. I am female, plain and simple. My experiences differ from most cis women but I’m still female, still a woman, and still not accepting your transphobic bullshit. Hope that helps! 😊

I didn’t say they were. But you can’t be female unless you have female chromosomes, reproductive system, etc. Or at least close to that. You can say I’m transphobic all you want but you’re just confusing these terms. I’m not arguing with you anymore delulu.

Says the transphobe who thinks their middle school understanding of biology is all there is. 😂 You’re wrong and you can think otherwise all you want, but that’s your intentional ignorance and lack of decency. Still female, still not changing to fit your comfort. 💃🏻

It’s not about my comfort ☠️ it’s not middle school understanding you just simply aren’t female. That doesn’t invalidate your gender or transness, you just quite literally don’t have female chromosomes or a female reproductive system. ATP I’m a proud transphobic trans girl. Whatever! <3

I’ve been speaking GENERALLY this entire time. I’m not saying ALL trans women are biologically male. But you literally can’t change your chromosomes or reproductive system. That’s literally just a fact. Maybe in the future. But I’m not speaking emotionally or morally I’m just talking about sociology based on perceived gender or sex.

You don’t know any thing about either chromosomes or reproductive systems. When you take hormones and become infertile… you changed your reproductive system. When you get SRS you change your reproductive system. When your prostate becomes hypoplastic due to androgen insufficiency, you changed your reproductive system. Chromosomes now… first off, none of us know our chromosomes unless you’ve been karyotyped. Second off, chromosomes are just one small part of sexual maturation

Third off, and this one is really funny, the Y chromosome naturally degenerates. This is MLOY or mosaic loss of Y… a completely natural phenomenon as we age, so if you define chromsomes as all inclusive for sex. Then you’ll have to come to grips with 90 old men who have mosaic Turners Syndrome being part women lmao… don’t speak on what you don’t know. Trans women are females

i think gendered socialization theory can be valid in the way it observes how a misogynistic society affects women and creates unnecessary gendered divides. unfortunately its been hijacked by dumb ass terfs to push an agenda against trans women that makes zero sense. theres no way trans women would be socialized as men as part of socialization is how you see yourself vs how the world sees you.
