Will they let me get top surgery if I’m thinking of starting to microdose on T. I for sure want top surgery but I’m unsure if I want T long-term/how much/at all. But I’m assuming I’ll have access to T before I have access to surgery. Should I wait?

yes, and you can even get top surgery without being on t. there’s a whole subreddit, r/no_t_top_surgery dedicated to discussing this.

so also, no you don’t have to wait. you can do it in whatever order is most accessible/comfortable for you.

I guess I’m worried about starting on T and the chonkers shrinking and then getting top surgery and then going off T in the future… would they like grow again? Lol I’m non-binary so I think I just want to be on T short-term for a few affirming changes

there are better answers available on that reddit and the r/topsurgery page, but generally speaking re-growth is a myth/does not occur as the methods used remove 98+% of breast tissue (small caveat that some nipple sparing methods leave more tissue). the vast majority of people who go off/are never on t don’t experience regrowth, however some people can experience what looks like regrowth if they gain weight bc estrogen promotes fat cell growth in the chest area.

Interesting. Thank you! So if I’m slightly underweight now… and I want to gain weight in the future (like to be more fit and muscular) is top surgery a bad idea rn?

not at all! trans people, and people who are no-t, are hyper aware of any changes in the chest area bc of dysphoria but it’s not so drastic that it prevents passing or is even out of line with natural human variation in chest size due to weight/muscle tone. the best time to get top surgery is when you want it and it’s accessible for you. that’s it. + you can always discuss these concerns/goals with ur doctor.
