they think you have to (want to) medically transition to be a “real” trans person, & they believe you have to have dysphoria to be trans (which excludes trans people who experience only euphoria). generally they’re either very miserable people who think you’re only trans if you’ve experienced their pain, or they hate non-binary people. or both. lots of both.

people who think that medical transition is necessary to be trans and/or a term used to describe people who believe that gender dysphoria is required to be trans but these people generally don’t agree on where exactly the lines ought to be drawn to be considered “trans enough” so there’s a ton of variation in meaning
