Thought that my fellow trans people (experts on Greek Mythology) would appreciate this 💀
Normalize learning the lore of Greek mythology before you name your baby after it. You’re naming your babies after super evil rapists and murders 😭

We hate to see it when someone names themself after the goddess of strife and discord, then causes strife and discord with their roommates

Greek mythology is a fucking land mine for this istg. Half the stories are “Zeus/Poseidon got horny and r*p*d a mortal and turned them into a deer afterwards”

I feel like people aren’t gonna love my take on this, but those myths were never meant to be taken literally. Stuff like that was often to show that the gods were a “man’s man” with sexual prowess basically

I see what you’re saying but there’s always going to be people who treat every word in a religion as if it actually happened *ahem fundamentalist Christians* and OP’s point stands about knowing the context for names and stories being REALLY important if you’re naming your kid after them. That kid is gonna find out the history even if the parents never look into it, and names are super influential on a person it’s fascinating actually

Nominative determinism is interesting. It makes me wonder how my behavior will change after I choose a new name for myself. That actually might be super affirming lowkey. Even outside of people referencing me like that.
