My cousin asked me for my pronouns yesterday and it felt like she was asking a comedian to tell a joke. I’ve been transitioning for 3+ years and I forgot to shave my face all week
That type of person will assume whatever makes them feel like they can make a dig at you. It’s not logical

hey can i ask what you mean by intentionally not coming out of the closet? i’m a trans man and i’m not out yet but i’m on t and i’m just curious what that looks like for you if you’re willing to share 💕

Personally my thinking was “if they’re already accustomed to the change, then they’ll take the news less poorly.” 3+ years on T and top surgery last Dec. I’m definitely not stealth or anything, I just never explicitly said I was trans

I’ve invited them to my film screenings and plays where they’ve seen my preferred name and pronouns used by people that I *do* care about the opinion of, and it’s made it easier for them to digest without them even realizing it

I definitely have the privilege of having a community and a “found family,” which helped me get top surgery way earlier than expected, but I literally told my family I was going on a “small vacation” for a week and a half while I healed a bit lmao

This reminds me that I never came out to my employer, either. I just asked if they could change my name in the system, and then asked for time off for ambiguous surgery. They had a ton of top surgery-related cards for me when I got back despite not coming out to them
