Well my biggest advice is to just not get a diagnosis if you don’t need it. Especially right now, where the gov is trying to track those things And also, if you already made it through school, there’s little gain in a diagnosis, at this point you know how your brain works, and you’ve been functioning with it for a while now, and I’d just work with that tbh
^^this, plus the process of getting an official diagnosis is generally a hassle and also expensive for absolutely no reason, if youre at a point where you dont have any use for academic accommodation then theres not a lot for you to do with the diagnosis unless you want to get medication for it
Yeah, I get it, but unfortunately as an adult it’s not an easy process. I went through much of it after I turned 18 (my parents wouldn’t let me go through it as a minor) I didn’t get fully diagnosed because I didn’t want that on my record, but even just to get a “you *probably* have ADHD” took several months, a full diagnosis can take over a year, especially to get medication (which I didn’t want either)
That really depends on where you go to get diagnosed. I went specialist route with Medicaid, got in sure fast and got my diagnosis report within a month. I did it to access meds, because the add-on of long covid GREATLY exacerbated my symptoms. Meds are worth the process for me. I don’t even have strong scripts, but the quality of life they provide has been life changing.
I’m also in Cali, not on Medicaid but still was an extremely long process, they don’t just like to hand out Ritalin to adults, they tend to be more willing as a kid because they believe that that’s when most of the cases are caught and need treating, so adults with ADHD are a lower priority
