Maybe im just giving androgynous, no complaints there lol. I wonder if I unknowingly made a face and that’s why they backtracked (sometimes sir catches me off guard bcs it’s too formal, not necessarily wrong)

It could also just be that the cashier is trying to practice to not use gendered terms anymore
