What kind of emotional effort does it take to be trans? I’m not trans, but I wish I was born as a girl that transitioned so I could embody pride with my gender (even with all the hate) since I’m not happy being male. Is that what trans people experience?

I kind of felt like this before realizing I was non-binary and would still transition if I was born differently

Yeah I think I’m non-binary also, but I consider myself gender-faun simply because I don’t feel like denying my ASAB. I just don’t like associating myself with masculinity (mainly cause of the toxic side of it) and I don’t see myself being a girl, but I still want to be comfortable with my gender. That’s why I’m asking this: I want to understand what it’s actually like to be comfortable with a different gender, even if people attack you for it.

that’s kind of an abstract question, and frankly I’m unsure how to answer—I think you have to, to some extent, detach yourself from how other people see you & focus on how you see yourself to figure out your gender

when I look in the mirror, I see someone who’s not me. which hurts, but it helps with figuring out what’s missing or wrong appearance-wise. and if I think of myself as a man or woman and am uncomfortable with that, then I can figure out *why* I’m uncomfortable, and if there’s situations where I’m ok with being called a man/woman

that’s part of why gender labels help a lot, since you can frame yourself as agender, gender-fluid with X leanings, demigirl, demiboy, genderfaun, and anything else. and if you’re not ok with that label, that’s still super helpful—now you can find out *why* that labels not comfortable, and then you know more about how you want to be perceived
