being trans and Christian shouldn't require me to give a 20 page essay on how I can do both every time I enter a queer space. I don't get that questions in Christian spaces, why do y'all care? 🙄

because a lot of us have been extremely hurt by christianity in a way that is not true in reverse

people can see it as a dissonance considering how we’re oppressed as trans people in a Christian nationalist society, which imo makes sense depending on if you still ascribe to organized religion - former trans Christian

let’s be real here people hurt people and it’s christian people that have perpetuated a cycle of harm that goes back a long long time and a lot of queer spaces exclude christians for that reason even if there are progressive sects because at the end of the day we do not belong everywhere and some communities are not open to everybody

it’s still not anyone’s business tbh, people are way too comfortable asking personal questions about one’s identity online (queer, religious, or otherwise)

but there are dozens of progressive denominations and we're not all the evangelicals or conservative. I'm just tired of explaining it and it makes me feel unwelcome in so many queer spaces online and offline because it feels like I have to justify being both and even if I do it sometimes feels like they just think I'm too indoctrinated to be trusted

that’s a fair frustration—honestly just say it’s not their business if they ask, since it simply isn’t. fyi, I’m not saying you can’t be part of organized religion & be trans, just pointing out the common line of thought

much like how trans people or queer people are not a monolith, Christians are not a monolith.

There’s nothing about trans people in the Bible. The concept of “trans” as we view it today did not exist when the biblical texts were written, and thus the Bible does not speak on it. Modern religious-based trans opposition is interpretive rather than definitive. Some *Christians* are opposed to the existence of trans people — *Christianity* is not.

queer space has always been highly privileged and protected in my eyes

So why should I bother trying to be part of the queer community then? What's the point when one belief is enough to completely ignore everything else that I do or am? It's sad, because I want to connect with other queer people. I'm one of you, I experience the same bs, and I fight for the same things, but one belief and suddenly I'm other. I'm probably giving up on queer spaces, because it isn't worth the headache.
