I’m very happy the government is actually doing things that will actually help because I’m sorry putting someone in prison for five years is not gonna do anything

I am all for castrating rapists, however, I have unfortunately heard a few different stories of rapists who have been castrated that still find ways to rape kids/people with objects rather than their ding-a-ling. It’s a mental disorder they have and I personally think they should be tortured and killed 🤷🏻‍♀️ but castration is a legal step forward, so I am glad the government is doing so

So, believe it or not, but rape doesn’t come from a place of sexual gratification, it comes from a power desire. So unfortunately, the only thing chemically castrating them does is create anger in person. What does tend to have sex based criminality, esp with sexual impotence and anger, is serial killing. Also, this severe of punishment encourages killing victims to reduce the risk of being caught. (Source: I have a degree in forensic psych and one in CRJ, and have worked extensively in law stat

Yeah it’s satisfying but I don’t think it solves the problem. With more severe punishments comes more hiding in the shadows.

Cool now what happens to those who are wrongfully convicted or victims of police corruption

TLDR: there’s no link to reduced risk of reoffending associated at all with chemical castration, but there is a link with increased victim death after these punishments are legalized

It’s an ongoing treatment, so they’d be able to restore (at least some or most) sexual function back once they stop the medication (which will also impact parole releases of offenders and will cause a lot of rearrests for medical noncompliance instead of actually focusing on reducing the risk of reoffending and protecting people)

Oh cool so the black man blamed for a crime because of racism in the justice system only faces a LITTLE castration for an offense he did not commit

It’s the same anti-androgen treatment trans women use, so it is safe and reversible. Though I suppose at this level of dosing there’s not as much research on long term impact

In which case we are forcing part of gender reassignment on people. I like the IDEA of harsher punishment for offenders but you’ll NEVER be able to ensure that only guilty people face this punishment, and you’ll never be able to ensure it isn’t used to target marginalized groups when it’s an instrument of a corrupt system

……no, we are not. It’s also used as a cancer treatment. Are we forcing cancer on people? Medicines are used for many purposes. But yes you’re correct our system is severely flawed and we cannot guarantee falsely accused people ends up sentenced. But we also face the flaw of focusing on purely punishment instead of rehabilitate JUSTICE. Punishment ≠ justice

Right but this is the first time surgical has been approved. Chemically is the “standard”
