We’re WAY past the need of a $15 minimum wage. Inflation and wage stagnation has hit us so hard I argue a $35-$40 minimum wage is the new liveable wage in this country. Universal healthcare would also offset our exorbitant healthcare costs.

I’m begging you to take an economics course. This would hurt the people you’re intending to help.

The idea of a federal minimum wage is absolutely stupid. Requiring businesses in Arkansas and Mississippi to pay unskilled labor $40/hr is akin to requiring restaurants to keep their Ribeye Steaks under $5 per plate.

Maybe learn some skills and earn yourself a $35-40 an hour job instead of blaming others for your incompetence. All you liberals want is everything given to you on a silver platter. Childish. Guarantee you work some shitty no skill job thinking you deserve to be paid more when you really should be payed less.

Yk learning new marketable skills requires resources and time right? It’s not always as easy as just choosing to become a more valuable worker

I agree. Let’s expand access to skills by improving our public education nationwide, and expanding high speed internet access to rural communities so everyone has an equal opportunity. Then let’s connect our cities with high speed rail so people can easily travel to jobs and exchange skills. We need some way to power this, so let’s build more nuclear plants and cover parking lots in solar arrays. People also need to eat, so investing 40 billion into American ranching and agriculture will help.

In economic terms “unskilled labor” doesn’t refer to jobs that require literally zero skill, but rather positions that are easily substitutable. Work that almost everyone can learn how to perform at a proficient level in a few weeks.
