US is heavily invested in ensuring Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons. That is an event we absolutely do not want to occur. Considering how well the CIA profiles individual leaders, my guess is that they have found those in power in Iran would be likely to irrationally utilize these weapons, sparking civilization ending war.
