Actually dystopian. Mamdani: “if a landlord is not able to follow the law, then they should not be a landlord.” Who’s the party of just comply now? Taking away our rights

Yeah God forbid tenants get what they pay rent for and don’t have to deal with peeling paint and leaky pipes

Big difference between “just comply bro” when an ICE agent has a gun to your head vs when a rich landlord can’t buy his third yacht

Your right to ignore the legally binding contract compelling you to provide a safe place to live to the people paying you rent? Your right to let your “investment” property that you haven’t invested a dime into for the last 3 decades rot around your pleading tenants? Your right to raise rent for the 10th year in a row to a building that wouldn’t pass fire code? Be real.

That seems perfectly reasonable to me if you want to work a job you should be required to follow the rules and regulators that job requires

Yeah, sometimes they play fast and loose, but that’s the idea If you are one of the middle-class landlords then the law should have some lenience , right now it’s extremely favorable to the tenants right?
