If we are ranking oppressions, I think, in the US in 2025, being disabled or poor rank as more impactful than being black. A white American who is in poverty and disabled is more marginalized than a black American who is middle class and healthy.
before you are a woman,
before you are queer,
before you are disabled,
before you are poor,
you are white first.
being white doesn’t negate all other oppression, but it is the biggest privilege of all.
