damn i found my people. i was told technical writing was the best field to go into if you want to have a career/are good at writing, so i dropped the creative writing major in favor of that…then AI took every technical writing job out there and i hated every minute of my classes and im swamped in debt lol
Fr!! I had (have) things I enjoy much more that I could’ve actually made a decent living doing but instead I chose to go into debt for this degree that is not super useful atm. All everyone told me while I was choosing to go into engineering was “people will be falling all over themselves to hire you”
i heard the same thing! “they’ll need so many of you guys to train AI” was a lie…they needed us for a year, 2022, before i was even in the market for a job. i still write songs and make some side money performing myself and sometimes writing for local bands, which allows me to pursue my actual passion while making a little money, but it isn’t close to what i was being promised when i switched my major in 2021. $50 and 3 free beers every other weekend wasn’t exactly the career plan i had…
