Wanting equal opportunity ≠ looking down on people who choose different paths.

For your information, many of these “leftists” are not college graduates looking down on people without degrees. Many are blue-collar workers themselves who support policies aimed at expanding access to education, healthcare, and other opportunities. The goal isn’t to make everyone get a college degree or treat blue-collar work as “less than.” It’s about giving people the choice to pursue higher education or go into trades/blue collars work without limitations due to their backgrounds.

I think that the American left DOES in fact have a classism problem. Obviously not every leftist is like this, but a lot of them treat non-college educated working class people like charity cases. And it’s a subconscious thing, they’re not overtly classist, but you can tell that their typically upper-middle class, collegiate backgrounds have baked latent classism into them. The same way everyone in a patriarchal society has subconscious internalized misogyny.

And that is something worthy of critique when we see it in ourselves, in our organizations, etc. However, it is not an ideological flaw in leftISM, it is a personal flaw in many leftISTS. And in many college educated people on all sides of the spectrum. It’s just expected out of the more mainstream positions. Due to leftists’ key focus area usually being labor issues, it comes off worse when leftists are subconsciously hypocritical in their attitudes towards working people.
