.gaia.

Internet queer discourse makes my eye twitch. Also, since I’m a white cis gay man, I don’t think I have anything useful to add to it. Talking about that stuff in my phil and soc courses and 1 on 1 with professors was much better than online too.

you kinda also have to take into account that a lot of people partaking in online queer discourse are VERY young, and their lack of experience in the real world absolutely has an impact on how they view real world issues

they often have a very black and white view on things, when in reality there’s almost nothing that’s truly black and white in the real world

Like at this point I’m just like can we all just exist??? Like fuck labels, fuck categories, especially ones people place on OTHER people. Like fuck all that shit just be you and be me. We’re all weird anyways. The goal was never to be normal and I feel like baby queers have this incessant desire to be perceived correctly and accepted as normal but like the goal should just be to exist and be accepted as we are

When October 7th happened I was literally in the middle of a course about the Holocaust in MENA. The discussions we had as a class were shockingly productive and illuminating. Its crazy how much better things are in a college setting than with strangers the internet, but maybe I shouldn’t be too surprised.
