as long as we are supposed to consider lives lost and ruined by right extremism to be acceptable collateral damage (and this includes state sponsored violence), I will not self flagellate for some broken windows.

the double standard is actually astonishing. and the expectation for the left to bend over backwards to meet that standard without meaningfully pushing back on rightist violence is why democrats are so unpopular now.

“Self flagellate” would imply the violent protests are your fault. They’re not. Nobody’s making you support them. It is possible to look at two bad things and say “These are both bad, though one is clearly worse.”

There is no double standard. Call out violence. If you just condemn violent protests on your own side it gives you so much more of a leg to stand on with people when we talk about J6. I think your attitude being the exact carbon copy of what a right wing caricature of you would be has a lot more to do with why Democrats are unpopular. The center thinks you support burning cities down in protests.
