How many times does that claim have to be refuted for yāall to drop it? All Israel wants is for Hamas to be destroyed, the return of the hostages (achieved), and the installment of a non-terrorist government to replace Hamas. Those have always been the three stated goals of the war. Unfortunately, Hamas, being terrorists, store their ammunition and leaders under schools and hospitals (look it up, many sources confirm). Itās not that complicated.
It literally does. The Geneva Convention literally says itās allowed if there are military personnel in that building. And youāre saying that the actions of Gazaās government have nothing to do with Israelās actions? Beyond lunacy. Israel is trying to eliminate Hamas officials, itās not their fault that Hamas deliberately uses their civilians as human shields.
Okay, this is going to take a while. But your take is the one that is complete lunacy. Israel can ONLY legally target schools and hospitals if they are being used for military purposes (which hasnāt been demonstrated as the case in the majority of Israelās school and hospital bombings), otherwise it is ILLEGAL. Even if it is used for a military purpose, if destroying the hospital causes disproportionate harm to the citizens of Gaza (which it does, they need the hospital), it remains illegal.
Also, even if the attack is proportional and against a legitimate military target. Israel has to legally give multiple warnings, first to stop using the hospital or school for military purposes, a second warning and a reasonable amount of time for non-military personnel to safely evacuate the premises, and planning has to be undertaken to minimize collateral. Israel has clearly violated this regularly during the Gaza genocide.
The actions of Gazaās government DO impact the actions of Israelās government, but it is Israelās actions ALONE that are considered when deciding whether or not Israel is committing genocide. What Hamas does has no impact on the legal classification of whether or not Israel is committing genocide. Israel isnāt trying to eliminate Hamas officials, it is trying to eliminate Palestinians in Gaza as a whole.
Over here, Israel HAS given warnings for each and every strike on a civilian infrastructure. Literally look it up. They drop leaflets, warn on the radio, and try by any means possible to warn civilians to evacuate. There are literal videos of this, and videos of Hamas telling those same civilians to stay in place, because they want them as human shields and martyrs for their ācauseā.
Not all of Israelās strikes have followed the procedures above, which means they factually violated international law. Considering most major human rights organizations including a UN special counsel have found that Israel has committed genocide, denying it at this point is simply genocide denialism
Thatās such bullshit. Israel is not trying to eliminate Palestinians as a whole. If they were, Gaza would already be a parking lot. Itās been 2 years⦠Gaza is so densely populated that they wouldnāt have to worry about collateral damage, and clearly āacademicsā like yourself have caught on to their āatrocitiesā, so donāt say they are trying to hide it or make it less obvious.
Okay, fine. Since you wanna play that game? 1. November 3, 2023 - Israeli forces struck a clearly marked ambulance convoy outside the gates of Al-Shifa hospital, killing 15 people and injuring 60. Human Rights Watch verified that the strike constituted an unlawful attack on a medical transport. 2. October-November 2023 - The Indonesian Hospital was struck multiple times by Israeli forces, resulting in civilian deaths and extensive damage to critical life-saving infrastructure.
Investigators noted that consecutive strikes around the permitted failed to account for the safety of patients and staff inside. 3. October 2023 - The International Eye Care Center was completely destroyed, and the Friendship Hospital, Gazaās only facility for cancer treatment, sustained repeated direct and indirect strikes that severed its fuel and power lines, forcing it to shut down entirely.
4. A 2025 Human Rights Watch investigation and reports from the UN Human Rights Office outline a pattern of lethal strikes on schools acting as designated shelters for internally displaced persons 5. October 17, 2023 - A deadly strike hit a UN-administered school sheltering roughly 4,000 displaced people. UN experts decried the attack as a catastrophic failure to respect civilian immunity.
6. July 27, 2024 - Located in Deir al-Balah, the Khadija School Shelter and its adjacent field hospital were hit by an air strike that killed at least 30 Palestinians, including 15 children and 8 women. Human rights monitors concluded the attack was unlawfully indiscriminate due to the absence of a distinct military objective.
7. August 2024 - Consecutive strikes targeting the public Dalal Moghrabi and Hamama Schools in Gaza City killed dozens of families. The UN noted that even if militants were allegedly in the area, the overwhelming civilian presence rendered the strikes heavily disproportionate under international law.
8. A comprehensive independent UN Fact-Finding Report concluded that Israeli military used airstrikes, controlled demolitions, and shelling to destroy or critically damage over 90% of all school and university buildings in Gaza, classifying these widespread, systematic destructions as war crimes.
In terms of genocide, Israel is intentionally creating unlivable conditions to systematically destroy the Gazan population. Look at the blockade, restricting access to food, clean water, fuel, and medical supplies, leading to widespread starvation and preventable disease. Look at the destruction of infrastructure, systematically destroying hospitals, universities, bakeries, and water treatment plants to eradicate the foundations of civilian life.
Look at the mass displacement, forcing nearly the entire population of Gaza to flee repeatedly into shrinking, unsafe zones that are subsequently bombed. Plus, a core requirement of the legal definition of genocide is intent, which Israel has clearly demonstrated by the dehumanizing statements made by high-ranking Israeli politicians, military leaders, and law makers, which are explicit directives to treat the entire Gazan population as combatants.
The alignment between those official statements and the subsequent behavior of military forces on the ground show genocidal intent. Also, the scale and nature of the violence also suggests genocide. Tens of thousands of civilians have died, a disproportionate amount being women and children. The use of high-yield explosives and unguided munitions in densely populated civilian areas shows a reckless disregard for human life.
Plus, itās not an isolated response to October 7. The current displacement is a continuation of the 1948 Nakba, the original displacement of the Palestinians, aiming for their permanent expulsion and the annexation of their land. This aināt even mentioning the long-standing policies of occupation, apartheid, and settlement expansion in both Gaza and the West Bank.
Ok, I donāt really want to keep shouting at each other back and forth in this disorganized manner. If you want to have an actual discussion about this, where we can go back and forth more easily, then message me. But, I doubt that you would be open to new ideas, since you seemed locked in your own echo chamber. But, I would be glad to hear you out, if youāre willing to show me the same respect.
āGaza would already be a parking lotā. Boy Iād sure love to know what you think Israel is going to do after leveling and bombing all of the infrastructure to the ground and ethnically cleansing all of the native people because they sure as hell aināt gonna leave it as real estate.
