The POTUS doesn’t decide the name of the Washington redskins lol. I think Obama may have just commented “yeah that’s prolly kinda racist” at some point. I don’t think Trump ever wanted the name to be changed from redskins and that’s really what he meant to say in the first post, but he couldn’t because that would be too racist for 2013 (however in 2025 it’s ok now)

In that same fucking article it says context matters. To have a sports team with a clearly racist mascot of a caricature is not the context they want to reclaim the word. But you didn’t actually read the fucking article you just used it to excuse your racism. It’s a fucking sports team. Stop whining like a toddler that they changed their name to something not racist

The mascot isn’t racist. It is a depiction of a real person with war paint, I’m pretty sure it goes into detail on the cultural meanings on the logo.

it’s the most racist caricature i’ve ever seen of a native american. on par with minstrel show’s blackface. to claim it isn’t racist is one of the strongest forms of cope i’ve witnessed to date.
