It’s not a presupposition when Palestinians are pretty up front about wanting exactly that. A single state where only one religion has full rights is the most popular solution among both Israelis and Palestinians because both groups have genocidal actors who aren’t shy at all about what they want to do to the other side. Palestinians need self governance, Israelis need security.
Do you think the Palestinians will just calmly want to live in the same country as the Israelis after they are freed?? Would you want to live next to the guy who has been killing your people for years? Centrists are shying away from what needs to be done. How do you reason with someone who literally believes that their race is gods chosen and are hence above you???
This idea that granting equal rights to a discriminated class will give them the power to then subjugate the current ruling class is rhetoric dating back to slavery and isn’t true! Plus we arent even at the stage to discuss desegregating when Israel is bombing and starving Palestinians. We should be talking about a ceasefire and getting aid into Gaza. That’s what matters.
Yes. The Jewish people have a particular contract with god, hence the laws they are supposed to uphold (if they’re observant). Judaism doesn’t believe that other religions are wrong or that other people are wrong for not being Jewish, unlike Christianity or Islam who aim to convert everyone.
I mean you’re right. But a huge portion of those “normal people” are rabid racists when it comes to Palestinians. The way the “war” has been conducted has largely been popular. Literal war criminals get applause. And somehow super far right governments keep getting elected over and over.
Yes because Israel has never really made a fair deal. There have always been caveats or deceptive land swaps. I.e. Israel gives up 20% of the West Bank for 10% of land somewhere else, but all that land in the West Bank is literally rocky hillside. Most of the Israeli governments that have been part of negotiations were not really acting sincerely. The most recent time there were serious, productive talks going on, the Israeli PM, Yitzhak Rabin was murdered by a Jewish extremist. He was replaced
