part of the issue is that some leftists don’t want to accept that the bipartisan nature of elections is so embedded into our culture that we must take one step at a time. Harris was hardly ideal, but stagnation is preferable to flat out regression. Labels are important in America. I firmly believe Sanders hasn’t gotten more popular than he already is because he uses the label of ‘socialist.’ it scares some the average American.
“I find it so fucking comical that there were mother fuckers genuinely dying on the hill that Kamala Harris and Donald Trump were the same evil last year.” Because, having sunk cost fallacy in their opinion means they can’t admit that their viewpoint has changed or is wrong. They are too invested in that view.
That’s because every major or meaningful win the democrat party has gotten in the last 8 years has also come with massive concessions. The best thing they ever did was get a trifecta in the house senate and presidency and do absolutely nothing with it while allowing for the supreme court to legislate from the bench the whole time
Bro u have to understand policy and how to craft it. Just because you have a trifecta doesn’t mean that you should pass the utmost progressive agenda. They got a lot done in Bidens term and the time before 2008-2010 they passed the most impactful piece of legislation in modern politics. Just because you don’t support a bipartisan endeavor doesn’t mean it wasn’t productive
I take the ACA as a win for sure that’s why I limited my statement to the last 8 years. They provided a decent amount of opposition throughout the first Trump term, but Trump still got the Wall and the tax cuts, and they let Trump steal the court appointee to replace RBG, which has been extremely costly. Most of the Biden wins were pandemic recovery based, there was definitely good in there, but civil rights absolutely took a back seat and he all but damned us to a second Trump term by
All your claims regarding trumps term are invalid. Dems didn’t have a choice since everything you listed was prior to midterms. The RBG nominee wasn’t the Dems fault but rather mcconnel and his refusal to hold a vote. I agree with blaming biden partially but civil rights took a backseat since our economy was failing. You can’t promote civil rights until you have a stable economy that’s just a fact. You are upset abt Jeffries yet he encouraged media involvement and town halls. He can’t force 1/2
Yeah, I guess it doesn’t make sense to put all the blame on the democrats for everything that’s happened when it’s largely just failures to adequately respond to the opposition breaking the rules, it just feels like there’s no point in putting any of the blame on the GOP bc if we do manage to get back in power, the consequences will be even less effective than those of 1/6
It’s hard to have hope I get it. But if we lose hope then we have already lost :). I agree that we likely will only be able to recover 80% of the damage that has been done so far. However, destruction always is quicker than rebuilding. Hopefully, this allows us to institutionalize programs that benefit everyone in more meaningful ways
