I want the unearned feeling of intellectual supremacy that moderates who voted for trump get when they say “both sides are bad”

What about moderates who voted for Harris that say that?

Depends why? Did they shift further left than Dems and therefore reject both parties, or do they just not care anymore

I say both parties are bad and voted for her, but not because I’m a moderate lmao

I mean personally speaking I have pretty left wing ideals, but the polarization of this country is the most dangerous concern of mine. Like when you have an entire generation of people being told “if you’re not Republican you’re evil!” “No, if you’re not democrat you’re evil”, that damages society. All the while the parties do evil things. Is one side better? Absolutely. But if our options are a literal pile of shit and a pile of garbage, I’m gonna demand a better menu

This too, ideally we’d have an actual left wing party and let dems be the centrists they wanna be

Have you considered that Republicans openly and materially support evil shit? They just started a war a thousand miles away and fucked up the entire global economy like 6 weeks ago. I can’t pretend Republicans aren’t at least a little evil if they haven’t broken from their party at this point.

But how is the only solution to partisanship pivoting center? (The answer is it’s not)

It’s not pivoting center. It’s not about finding middle ground on every issue. It’s about saying “I’m unwilling to back down on this issue. But, on this issue I’m willing to concede some things if I can get your bipartisan support”. But that doesn’t exist anymore. If you go against party lines, you’re a traitor or a RINO

So long as things are bi-partisan you will be forced to find a middle ground. You need to establish more parties, ranked choice voting, and let power be dividing between branches of government (the way the Constitution was designed) instead of between parties.

I’m not willing to find a middle ground with people who have no interest in doing the same. And continually force the left to accommodate their escalations in far right extremism. So for now, fighting fascism is my only goal… not “uniting parties”

I’m all for turning into a multi party system. Quite frankly that’s the simplest solution. A left and right wing party to fight for their ideals, a middle party to weigh on the merits of the bills not the narrative of them

Glad we can see eye to eye on that!
