Well it’s not that uncommon for atheists to say they are “better Christian’s” if they are leftists and consider themselves more empathetic.

I mean I’d argue it’s true. Regular, empathetic, kind people are substantially closer to the teachings of Jesus than conservative christians, who basically only actually care about the iron age fire and brimstone stuff. That doesn’t literally make them Christian of course, because that depends on believing in the divinity of Christ.

it’s kind of a strawman because the argument isn’t “i’m gods favorite” it’s “you’re a hypocrite who detests most of the values in your holy book”
