I genuinely can’t tell if OP is like a radical Jacobin or a far right pagan type

Nah, I’d say it shows that humanity is still the same and hasn’t changed its nasty ways

Nah both are right, you only see one part of the picture but we are looking at the same thing—It shows their desert cult is just a product of the mind of men and is not divine

I mean the people who say it’s only bad now are wrong, but what part of their religion is being compromised?

From their view it’s the core moral teachings being compromised. They believe society and even parts of the church are drifting from biblical standards, which to them is both a sign of decline and proof that the faith is being diluted. That’s why they link it so strongly to “end is near” thinking.

Oh, I thought you were referring to Christianity in general, not that kind of thing. I am actually Christian, but it’s not hard to see that nothing has changed lol. I think it’s generational amnesia, people reminiscent on times they don’t understand and think it was better than the present.

I also think Abrahamic religions almost certainly draw from the same doctrinal thinking prevalent in Assyrian and other Middle eastern religions of Iraq, Levant, etc

Direct line of doctrine descent from pre Xtian pre Jewish pre Islamic religions from the same region

That was the Fertile Crescent, plenty of time for culture to root itself

They’re all so fked up over there they can’t stop quarreling. Most unfortunate event of history is the spread of Abrahamic religions into Europe and subjugation of pagan European traditions which only revived during the renaissance. The only reason Europe is such a powerhouse of science and culture is because it shed a lot of the yoke of xtian thinking during the renaissance. Else it would’ve been no different from Iraq

All the “western” ideals we hold dear (liberte egalite and fraternite, etc) are not from Judeo Christianity. They’re from the western minds that shed the desert cult

Doesn’t mean science was unsuccessful during those periods, Isaac Newton for example. An interest in the nature of the universe exists regardless.

Never said there was—There will always be diamonds in the cesspit regardless of time. The renaissance allowed the diamonds to shape society. The western man was held down by Christianity

The western man was held down by his own arrogance. It was his mistake to believe that curiosity was a cause for concern.
