There's a weird overlap between people on the left and them complaining that we are spending money on NASA... This is one organization that is good for America, good for jobs, good for international cooperation, good for education, good for technology...

they see exploration and advancing science as pointless because that’s in space and we don’t have free healthcare HERE yet Or something

We are a first world country with third world outcomes. There are much bigger fish to fry here on earth.

NASA’s Artemis mission is one of the few universally good things America is doing rn. Space exploration will always be important and it’s only 0.3% of our national budget so we ain’t wasting money either. I get the point but this mission isn’t where we should spend our energy hating

I don't hate the mission. It's a huge inspiration to me as an artist who makes space-related art and as someone with a fascination with the universe. My problem is with the system it's happening within and the motivations that enabled it to be prioritized. The whole thing happened because of international competition between groups of nations. China making strides for space catalyzed it. And Trump just tried to use it as a clout grab and failed miserably.

It's motivated by competition instead of cooperation and I think that's a bunch of bullshit and nobody is talking about that aspect

I can see why that puts a damper on things, but tbh, space exploration has always low key been an international competition, especially in regards to the moon :,( i get wanting to change that system tho fr
